Are you of Jewish ancestry?
You may not be aware, but there is an increased risk of Jewish people carrying a gene called BRCA which increases your chance of developing certain cancers such as breast cancer.
NHS England has rolled out national testing of all people with Jewish heritage for the BRCA gene and provide a generic testing kit.
In the Ashkenazi Jewish Population, approximately 1 in 40 people have a BRCA gene fault (compared to approximately 1 in 140 people from the Sephardi Jewish population and 1 in 200-250 people in the general UK population). This gene fault puts you at increased risk of certain types of cancers.
